Arthur Fenwick Williamson, a native of Tynemouth, Northumberland, was born in 1923 and flew as a Wireless Operator in the Lancsters of No. 9 Squadron, Royal Air Force, flying his first sortie to Hamburg on 24 July 1943. A frantic summer followed, with a total of 17 Ops flown, including Hamburg (4), Essen, Milan, Mannheim, Leverhausen and Berlin. His final Op was on 18 November 1943, flying in DV284 flown by Pilot Officer Graham, being shot down at 2155hrs and killed in action. He is buried in the Berlin 1939-45 War Cemetery; sold together with portrait photograph and various letters related to his loss and the issue of his Flying Log Book to the family.
