A watercolour by Reginald Augustus Wymer (1849-1935)

The watercolour, heightened with white, mounted and glazed within a narrow wooden frame 532mm x 400mm; dimensions within mount 356mm x 229mm.

The watercolour depicts a mounted private of the 2nd (Royal North British) Dragoons c.1760 from the off-side with his carbine unslung, the butt resting upon his right thigh; its inspiration is clearly the oil of the same subject by David Morier, painted for HRH The Duke of Cumberland in 1751 and now in The Collection of HM The Queen. Signed R Wymer, very good condition
