The impressive campaign group of four awarded to Marine R. J. Rogers, Royal Marines, a talented sniper who would appear to have served attached to the US Navy SEAL Team 3 for a covert raid on Iraqi oil refineries prior to the official invasion

N.A.T.O. Medal 1994, 1 clasp, Kosovo; Iraq 2003-11, 1 clasp, 19 Mar to 28 Apr 2003 (Mne P J Rogers PO55282Y RM); Operational Service Medal 2000, for Afghanistan, 1 clasp, Afghanistan (Mne P J Rogers PO55282Y RM); N.A.T.O. Medal 1994, 1 clasp, ISAF, nearly extremely fine (4)

P. J. Rogers joined the Royal Marines in May 1998 and joined 40 Commando, volunteering to transfer to 45 Commando in April 1999. A jungle warfare package followed in Belize that summer and he then went to Kosovo for a six-month tour - notably serving in 'small security teams' whilst on the ground. Returned to 40 Commando in August 2001 he trained with the UK Rapid Reaction Force and saw a tour of Afghanistan. This saw him 'work outstandingly as a team member in the earliest stages of the war against terrorism, dealing adeptly with enemy forces and the local population.' His unit landed ahead of the main ISAF force into Bagram airport in November 2001, soon after it had been secured by a raid by the SBS.

Volunteering for the sniper course in March 2002, Rogers topped the class and deployed to Iraq in January 2003 - his Testimonial confirming he was 'amongst the very first coalition forces into theatre.' It appears he served with US Navy SEAL Team 3 on a classified raid on Iraqi oilfields and refineries which occured moments before the official invasion. Their role - once inserted by helicopter - was to ensure the nodes in the sites were not destroyed once the Allied advance came. Returned to his unit, 40 Commando then took part in Operation James on 30 March which secured the Abu al-Khasib suburb of Basra.

Rogers was discharged on 28 May 2003 to take up private security work in the Gulf and later appears to have worked for PVI Maritime off Somalia; sold together with named box of issue for both named Medals, hip flask bearing Royal Marine Badge and inscribed 'Mne R J Rogers 744 Troop Kings Squad Royal Marines Passed for Duty 7 Jan 99', copied Testimonial, besides a number of photographs whilst in the Marines and on private work.
