M. A. Phillips passed the five week Brigade Surveilliance Course at Lydd, Kent in early 2006 having no previous experience in Static Covert Surveillance/Close Observation Platoon experience. Serving with that Platoon in Iraq during Opeartion Telic 8 from April 2006-January 2007, he worked as a Team Second-in-Command. During that time he 'deployed time and again on discreet surveillance tasks and covert operations and has developed well from the challenge of operating in a dangerous and testing environment'; sold together with named lid of issue for the Iraq Medal and copied Staff Reports and qualification certificates.
