Volunteer Force Long Service Medal (India & Colonies), G.V.R. (Voltr A A Reid Nagpur Voltr Rfls), officially re-engraved naming, very fine

Alfred Augustus Reid was born on 13 September 1851 at Saugor, son of John Reid, a Trumpeter in the 7th Madras Light Cavalry. Reid took employment in the Engineer Establishment of the Central Provinces and was listed as Supervisor 1st Class in 1889. Having risen to Superintendent, he died of a brain haemorrhage on 20 August 1914, with his Medal being announced in I.A.O. 485 the following month; sold with copied verification and extracts.
