George Walter Barton was born on 19 October 1893 at West Ham, London, the son of George and Alice Barton. Baptised at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Leytonstone, on 4 April 1900, he originally attested for the Essex Regiment during the Great War, later transferring to the Labour Corps. He returned home in 1919 and married Elizabeth Oliver at West Ham in June of that year, later becoming father to two daughters. Barton died in March 1980 at Kingston upon Thames; sold with copied research and MIC which notes entitlement to a pair only.
