The Establishment of the Post Office
1894 (26 June) An autograph letter signed by de Villard, sent from Shanghai to F. Gregson indicating that he was sending two parcels, "one containing the Chinkiang Date Stamp, the second containing the stamps: Stamps Cancelling chop, 'Registered', 'To Pay', and 'Paid'. I am informed by Mr Allen, the acting Local Post master here, that these are the necessary stamps, and he tells me at the same time that the following should be procured from England, cut in steel of brass, viz, Chinkiang date chop, Stamps Cancelling chop and Registered No. as the Rubber stamps do not last long...".

There are the usual folding creased. A fine and informative letter relating to the practical setting up of the Service. Photo

1894年6月26日費拉爾由上海寄給工部局秘書格端格森( F.Gregson )信函一通, 內容提及他隨函寄了兩個小包, 其一內裝己製成的鎮江書信館日期戳, 另一則內裝銷票戳章, 掛號戳, "To Pay"及"Paid"戳等, 並同時應鎮江書信館代理館長Mr.Aiien要求的英國採購材質為鋼或黃銅之戳章, 因橡膠戳是無法持久使用……; 信函雖顯現應有的摺痕外, 有關鎮江郵務建立的內容豐富, 為研究商埠郵史所不可缺者._x000D_ _x000D_ 源流: 1997年11月Charles Dougan.
