1894 (22 Nov.) envelope to U.S.A. bearing prepaid U.S. 5c. Grant in brown tied by "u.s. postal agency/shanghai" duplex (1.12) and a fine strike of the Kewkiang Local Post oval datestamp in mauve at left, the reverse with Shanghai Local Post c.d.s. in blue, San Francisco (22.12) and Saratoga Springs arrival c.d.s. (27.12). A fine cover used during the closure of the Japanese Post Office (between August 1894 to August 1895) when most of the international mail was delivered through either the U.S. or French Post Offices. 1894年11月22日九江寄美國封, 貼美國5仙票, 銷12月1日上海美國郵政代辦戳, 封面左端蓋清晰紫色九江工部橢圓形日戳, 封背蓋藍色上海工部日戳, 12月22日三藩市中轉戳及12月27日Saratoga Springs到達戳; 難得的實寄封, 使用於日本客郵局關閉期間(1894年8月至1895年8月), 故此時寄往海外信件大部份經由美國或法國客郵局遞送.
