1894 (31 July) envelope to U.S.A. using the subscription system, bearing prepaid Japan 5s. Koban tied by "i.j.p.o. shanghai/meiji.27" c.d.s. (3.8) with, on the reverse, a fine strike of the Kewkiang Local Post oval datestamp, Shanghai Local Post c.d.s. in blue, Yokohama (9.8), San Francisco (5.9) and indistinct Malden arrival (11.9). A fine cover sent via the Japanese post office just before their closure due to the Sino-Japanese War. Photo


1894年7月31日使用捐助訂戶制度由九江寄美國封, 貼日本五錢小判, 銷i.j.p.o.上海/明治27(3.8)日戳, 封背蓋清晰紫藍色九江工部橢圓形日戳及藍色上海工部日戳, 8月9日橫濱及9月5日三藩市中轉戳, 旁有9月11日Malden到達戳. 此封寄出於爆發甲午戰爭時期及上海日本客郵局關閉前, 故此封為存世罕見的上海各書信館經上海的日本客郵局寄美國之實寄封.
