1895 (Mar.) large, stampless official envelope (On Her Majesty's Service crossed out) to Baron Gunzburg in Shanghai bearing a fine strike of the "PAID" in oval handstamp struck in black with a very good strike of the double-circle "ichang/post office" handstamp alongside, a further strike on the reverse with Hankow Local Post c.d.s. (8.3) in blue, indistinct Shanghai Local Post c.d.s. and the postman's pencil delivery notation. There is a vertical fold to one side and some light soiling which is mainly confined to the reverse. This is one of the rarest of the Treaty Port Paid markings. A fine and very scarce cover. Photo
