1882 (25 May) linen-backed envelope (with letter headed "Sandakan, April 16th 1882") ex the "Pollock" to London, bearing 1880 CC 10c. brown tied by oval of bars (Proud Type K3, thirteen months earlier than recorded), showing Labuan c.d.s. (Type D4, nearly two months earlier than recorded) in opposite corner with arrival datestamp (3.7) on reverse; the envelope with tear at top left. A very early and rare franking. Photo

Note: According to the letter this cover was carried by the "Mosquito" to Labuan which left on the 22nd April.
