1882 (25 May) linen-backed envelope (with letter headed "Sandakan, May 14th 1882") ex the "Pollock" to London, bearing 1880 CC 10c. brown tied by oval of bars (Proud Type K3, thirteen months earlier than recorded), showing very fine Labuan c.d.s. (Type D4, nearly two months earlier than recorded) in opposite corner with arrival datestamp (3.7) on reverse; the envelope with tear through flap. A very early and rare franking. Photo
