George Thomas Hoy was born in Chelsea, London in June 1887 and entered the Royal Navy as an Acting Engine Room Artificer (E.R.A.) 4th Class in January 1915. He subsequently served in H.M.S. Endymion from June 1915 until March 1918, in which period he witnessed active service off the Dardanelles and in the Mediterranean. Hoy was advanced to E.R.A. 1st Class in early 1927 and was awarded his L.S. & G.C. Medal in March 1930; sold with copied service record.
