"Paid/At/Barbadoes" crowned circle, a magnificent strike in red on November 27, 1849 folded letter to New York, charged "1/-" for the packet rate, paying "5" centimes on delivery, double-arc datestamp. in black on reverse, carried via St. Thomas where it was embarked on the "Great Western" following route via Bermuda, very fine, the earliest date so far recorded for this handstamp, additionally very few letters from the West Indies to New York carried by RMPS steamers have survived (S.G. CC1, £475).
