1898 (18 Jan.) opened-out envelope to U.S.A. bearing 1c. on 3c. strip of four [6-10] with I.C.P. 10c. tied by Tangshan Post Office c.d.s. with Japan Koban 10s. alongside tied by "shanghai/j.p.o." c.d.s. with Tientsin Dollar chop (24.1) at foot; an array of backstamps with Shanghai Dollar chop (3.2), Yokohama (14.2), San Francisco and San Diego arrival (2.3). A very fine and scarce cover paying the 10c. international rate with the 4c. winter service surcharge.


This is the only overseas cover sent from Tangshan and one of only two covers recorded from Tangshan.
