1898 (16 Sept.) O.H.M.S. envelope from the British Consulate to the German Consul in Shanghai bearing Large Figures 2c. on 3c. pair [25-21] with I.C.P. 4c. and C.I.P. 2c. cancelled by Chinkiang pa-kua with a fine strike of the Chinkiang despatch Dollar chop in the lower left corner, the reverse with Shanghai Local Post c.d.s. (17.9) and pencil delivery characters. A fine and attractive cover. Pays the 10c. rate for an internal letter weighing under 1½ ounces


This is the earliest non-philatelic cover bearing a C.I.P. adhesive used with the Revenue Surcharge stamps.


An appealing three-issue combination with the I.C.P. stamp
