1897 (30 Apr.) illustrated ladies envelope in gold and red registered to Austria bearing Revenue Surcharge 1c. tied by Peking pa-kua in blue with "customs/peking" type III c.d.s. and bearing fabulous strikes of bilingual "paid" handstamp and large "R" in black, France "Chine" 50c. tied by "shang-hai/chine" c.d.s. with a second strike over the Peking datestamp, and the French "R" registration handstamp in red. The reverse with Customs Shanghai (9.5), "ligne n/paq. fr. no.1" and part Graz arrival; there are three repair patches on the reverse.


A remarkable envelope being the only example bearing a Revenue cancelled by Peking pa-kua additionally this is the only combination with the Paid handstamp
