1896 ("13" Nov.) cover front registered from the French Legation to France bearing 9ca. bright green and vertical pair of 24ca. deep red (pane 4 [5/10] showing break in frame above "Cn" [10]) cancelled by Peking seal in blue with France "Chine" 1f. and 75c. alongside tied by "shang-hai/chine" c.d.s. (20.11) with Peking straight-line "registered" in blue and French "R" in square in red. Some creases, one affecting the 9ca. adhesive and some arrival notes written on the address. Letter 32 from the Berteaux correspondence.


A magnificent triple 9ca. rate plus 6ca. registration. It is thought that there are only two other covers bearing multiples of the 24ca. stamp
