1881 (15 Mar.) opened-out envelope from the United States Consulate in Tientsin to North Carolina bearing, on the reverse, 1ca. green strip of three [18-19-20] with right margin cancelled by a light strike of Tientsin type B seal in black with the Customs despatch c.d.s. alongside, tied by Shanghai Customs c.d.s. (19.3) and San Francisco transit (17.4), the address side with U.S. 1875 5c. Taylor tied by cork obliterator with "u.s.postal agency/shanghai" type IIa c.d.s. alongside. The envelope has been marked "Immediate". Fine and attractive.
The 3ca. paying the internal post only, the international being prepaid by the U.S. stamp, applied at the time of posting.
