1881 (19 Jan.) opened-out envelope to U.S.A. bearing, on the reverse, 3ca. light red [8] and [9?] tied by a single strike of Peking seal in blue with "i.g. of customs/peking" despatch c.d.s. alongside, with Tientsin (20.1) and Shanghai (2.2) Customs c.d.s. Sent through the Japanese Post Office bearing 5s. Koban (2) tied by cork 'cross road' obliterators with "i.j. postal agency/shanghai" c.d.s. and Yokohama (11.2) transit, additional U.S. postmarks are on the reverse.
