Lot: 2234

1881-1907Substantial postally used collection of over 700 stamps, all with postal cancels and often identified by the type of cancel and the town name, the collection starts with three 1a Blue and seven 2a Purple on European wove paper, all imperforate, another eleven of the early printings on good quality native paper which are decidedly scarcer than the later issues, there is a substantial section of the later 1889-98 printings on good quality paper as well as the 1898-1907 issues on poor quality paper including some pin-perforated issues, there is a selection of the 1a Blue with recut frame including one imperforate example on European wove paper, we note nineteen tete-beche pairs which are scarcer than the analogous mint pairs, there are a few strips and blocks including several blocks of the 1889-98 4a Green (one accompanied by 1984 Hellrigl certificate), such large franking likely used on parcels, in addition to the identification of the cancels there are also a number of identified positions with plate flaws, plus there is a nice range of shades, condition varies as is to be expected as used are often difficult to find without faults \because they often did some rather rough postal service, still fine-very fine are found throughout; a valuable collection well worth examining (Scott #4/23b; S.G. #4/27; over £40,000).
