Auction: 160 - The Henry "Hap" Pattiz Collection of Nepal
Lot: 2233

1898-1930 Large mint collection of over 600 stamps, mostly in singles and pairs but including a few larger blocks, collected by shade as listed in Hellrigl, without gum as issued, over half of the stamps are in the postal issues but a much large percentage of the value is in these issues as well, with well over half of the total value in the 1898-1907 imperforate and pin-perforated postal issues on poor quality paper but still fairly decent impressions (S.G. #13-21), there are 26 tete-beche pairs in this section and over 50 tete-beche pairs in total, other postal issues include the early issues of the ½a Black and the 1a Blue imperforate and pin-perforated recut frame issues, the telegraph period has over 250 stamps including some larger blocks but a much smaller portion of the value even though mint stamps of this period can be elusive as most were used with telegraph cancels, there are six used ½a Red orange (the only used in the collection; accompanied by four Hellrigl certificates), one nice feature that is found throughout are the plate positions that show the various plate flaws that are found in the different values, condition overall is quite clean, a few faults are to be expected in a collection of this size but the vast majority are fine-very fine or better; a wonderful mint collection for varieties and the study of these issues; accompanied by 26 Hellrigl certificates (Scott #7/29A; S.G. #13/42; well in excess of £40,0000).
