Hellrigl #9, 1886-89 2a Dark blue, error of color, on native paper of good quality, imperforate, setting 5, unused without gum as issued, a spectacular single of this rare and little known error, wonderfully deep strong color and excellent impression, exceptionally well centered within lavishly large margins, extremely fine; a great rarity that had not been listed prior to the Hellrigl/Vignola handbook though it is noted, but not listed, in a footnote in Stanley Gibbons; this error is characterized by being in a dark blue color matching shades of dark blue in the 1a value; it is found only in setting 5 of which examples are very scarce in their own right even in the violet shades; a very important addition to a specialized collection of classic Nepal; 1986 Hellrigl certificate (Scott #8 var.; S.G. #8 var).
