Hellrig #9 var., 1l886-89 2a Dark blue, error of color, on native paper of good quality, imperforate, setting 5, position 58, unused without gum as issued, showing a transferred cliche plate flaw of dent in left margin, this is one of the more striking plate flaws for this value that moved to other positions after setting 8; more importantly this is a second example of the very rare error of color in dark blue, similar to the previous lot though not as heavily inked, yet it shows none of the red required for violet, excellent impression, remarkably well centered within large to extremely large margin at bottom; extremely fine (Scott #8 var.; S.G. #8 var.).
