Charles I (1625-49), Tower mint under the king, Halfcrown, 15.04g, group 1, type 1a1, m.m. lis both sides, carolvs. d. g. mag. bri. fr. et. hi. rex, king, crowned and in armour, on horseback left, raising sword in right hand, horse caparisoned with plume on head and crupper, crowned rose on housing, plain ground line, rev. chri - sto av -spice regno, garnished square topped shield on long cross fourchée (Brooker 276; N.2200; S.2763), struck on a slightly irregular flan, deeply toned, good very fine, rare thus
