Hiberno-Norse Vikings, early period, 919-25, Penny, 1.17g, St Peter sword type, sci¯pe / trimo in two lines, divided by sword placed horizontally across field, pommel to the left, cross flanked by pellets above legend and trefoil of pellets at tip of sword, letter i in legend represented by an inverted voided mallet, rev. +eroracei:. trefoil at end of legend, cross pattée with pellets in angles within inner circle, crescent added in field (Blackburn II, p.38; N.555; S.1014), edge knock behind sword pommel, portion of reverse legend double struck, generally a presentable piece with an even tone and well rounded, good very fine/nearly extremely fine

The very deliberate formation of the letter M on obverse suggests an earlier striking within the series
