Oxfordshire Militia
A very fine and rare example the silver plated back plate with silver and gilt mounts, comprising a crowned oval strap 'Oxford' enclosing the floreate numerals '51' on a domed ground, the strap with attendant palm sprays, complete with original leather liner, c.1833-1855, excellent condition

Oxfordshire drew the 51st precedence place in the Royal Ballot of 1833, this pattern therefore most probably succeeded the Oxford City arms pattern.
