A very fine quality example the gilt back plate with silver and gilt mounts, comprising a multi-rayed silver beaded star bearing crowned laurel sprays with battle honours 'Salamanca Peninsula Badajos Waterloo' enclosing a circular strap 'Spectamur Agendo', this in turn encloses the numerals 'XXX' upon a domed ground, below the laurels the 'Sphinx/Egypt', c.1840-1855 (Parkyn 254), facially very fine condition but the mounts are not original to the back plate
