A very fine and scarce example gilt back plate with gilt mounts, comprising a crowned oval Garter Proper enclosing a crowned lion statant guardant upon a torse, c.1832-1855 (Parkyn 246), the plate lacks the red velvet backing to the lion and the blue enamel backing slip to the Garter motto, very slight scoring to the bottom left hand corner, otherwise very good condition
