2nd (Queen's Royal) Regiment of Foot
A very fine quality and scarce example the gilt back plate with silver mounts, comprising ornate laurel sprays emblazoned with battle honours enclosing a crowned oval strap 'Pristinae Virtutis Memor' in the centre the Paschal Lamb over '2', complete with original leather liner, this with ink inscription 'Captain Wolfe 1854', c.1830-1855 (Parkyn 83), the red enamel backing to the central motto totally lacking the blue and green enamel backing to the central mount damaged otherwise fine condition

Major George Wolfe, Commissioned Ensign, 2nd (Queen's Royal) Regiment of Foot, September 1844; promoted Lieutenant, April 1849; Captain, December 1853; served with the Regiment during the Second China War, and present at the advance on Peking, 1860; promoted Major, April 1866.
