A fine quality example the engine turned back plate with gilt mounts, comprising the crowned Garter Proper enclosing the Royal Arms of Great Britain post 1837 with attendant Union sprays, a scroll below 'Ubique' over a cannon with a further scroll 'Quo Fas Et Gloria Ducunt', complete with original leather liner, this with ink inscription 'worn in 1837 by Capt. Wm. Forbes, presented by Capt. G. Forbes, R.A.', c.1837-1855 (Parkyn 52), excellent condition
