A fine quality and scarce example gilt back plate with gilt mounts, comprising an ornate scroll 'Gibraltar' over the Royal Crest over a fused grenade with a further ornate scroll below 'Per Mare Per Terram', complete with original leather liner, this with ink inscription 'Artillery Companies Royal Marines Presented by Captn', and later annotation 'H.B. Savage R.M.A. 23/12/54', c.1850-1855, (Parkyn 395), one or two tiny edge nicks otherwise excellent condition
