2824 Corporal Mathew Currie, born Stirling, April 1832; enlisted in the 71st Foot, November 1849; transferred to the 1st (Royal Scots) Foot, August 1853; served with the Regiment in the Crimea; promoted Corporal, April 1860; discharged, May 1861, after 11 years and 19 days with the Colours.
