Prince Edward Island Third Issue 1862 (November) Printing, Yellowish Toned Paper, Perf 11 1/2-12 Covers 1871 (4 Mar.) envelope from Charlotte Town to Hitchin. bearing 3d. blue (2) paying the single letter rate to U.K. via New York, cancelled by Type P144 obliterator, showing Type P80 d.s. and "paid/liverpool/br. packet" c.d.s. (19.3) in red with arrival datestamp on reverse; the envelope and stamps torn through horizontally upon opening and repaired. The only recorded example of this rate which was equal to 4d Stg.
