Newfoundland Airmails 1930 (Oct.) "Miss Columbia" On October 9 1930 the "Miss Columbia" took off from Harbour Grace and after covering 2,650 miles was forced down on the beach at Tresco Island in the Scilly Isles Envelope addressed to London, franked at 50c., cancelled by light St. John´s machine d.s., showing framed "undelivered for reasons stated/return to sender" in violet, London c.d.s. of 13th December and, on reverse, Harbour Grace and London datestamps of 9th and 13th October respectively, and unframed "return to sender/Unclaimed" h.s. in violet; also a photograph of "Miss Columbia" after landing on beach.
