1840 One Penny Black Plate VIII Covers 1841 (12 Feb.) entire bearing LD in a deep black shade, good to large margins and tied by a light strike of black Maltese Cross on Law Life-Assurance Society entire to Cheadle, with a fine strike of London despatch c.d.s. on flap; fine. Also an 1835 (14 Sept.) wrapper from the same company to Carlisle bearing their private "Law Life-Assurance/society/Post Paid" circular handstamp, duly completed for a payment of 1/1d., with a light strike of boxed "fleet st." and London Paid c.d.s. An interesting pair of covers, clearly illustrating the large reduction in postal rates. (2 covers) Estimate £ 200-250
