Northern Nigeria West African Frontier Force 1901 (25 Dec.) envelope (with original contents) from Lt. Wilkin at Ibi to his step-brother in London, showing blue crayon "1d" partly obscured by 1901 1d. tied by "northern nigeria" c.d.s. and showing arrival d.s. (4.2) on reverse. The letter tells of bringing 59 sheep from Wase and encountering a hostile crowd at Gerkowa (? Gankara). He arrested the king and two henchmen and held them as hostages. Photo Estimate £ 300-400
