Antarctica 1901-04 British National Antarctic Expedition by Robert F. Scott The First Relief Expedition 1903 (14 Apr.) Discovery crested envelope registered from Ernest Shackleton registered to Miss Maude Dorman (sister of his fiancée Emily) in London and redirected locally, marked "Discovery´s Winter Quarters Latitude 77º.50ºS Longitude 166.40E" and bearing superb Expedition label in deep blue with manuscript "DISCOVERY" at foot in combination with New Zealand 4d. blue and brown, both cancelled with Christchurch c.d.s. (14.4) and with Christchurch registration h.s. in pink and two different London Registered oval d.s. 918.5) alongside. A wonderful and exceptionally rare cover from the Relief Expedition, being the sole registered envelope with the Expedition label recorded. Photo Estimate £ 4,000-5,000 provenance: Dr. J.H.
