Antarctica 1901-04 British National Antarctic Expedition by Robert F. Scott The Second Relief Expedition 1903 (4 Sept.) picture postcard of S.S. Terra Nova (Wharton DI-4) sent by Ernest Shackleton at Dundee to his fiancée, Emily Dorman, in London with message "A picture of the Relief ship from E.H.S." and written from where he was helping to equip the ship. Photo Estimate £ 150-200 Note: After Shackleton became ill during the "Discovery" Expedition Scott decided to send him home on the relief ship "Morning". There is conjecture that Scott´s reason for removing him was Shackleton´s popularity, and that ill-health was used as an excuse to get rid of him. Shackleton´s attitude to Scott eventually turned to scorn and in order to salvage wounded pride he returned to the Antarctic in 1907 provenance: "Discovery", 1990
