ColombiaClassic Issues1859, 20c. indigo, stone A, a remarkable example in this scarce, slightly greyish shade of the first printing, outstandingly fresh and well margined, tied to cover from Popayán to Bogotá by "Popayan/Franca." oval handstamp, which is recorded being applied in greenish blue in 1858-59, sent by the General Vicente Guevara Cajiao. The franking covered the single rate up to 10 grams corresponding to a distance between 450 and 1,350 km., carried through the "Sur" and "Pacífico" routes. Undoubtedly one of the most attractive covers, of only about ten known, bearing this single franking; additionally, this is the only cover recorded, in the first five classic issues, exhibiting this postmark, a feature which further enhances the desirability of this item.
