Auction: SW1020 - Maritime Mail of Spanish Colonies in America

France1840, June 15. Entire letter from Bordeaux to Havana (Cuba), sent as a prepaid (3 décimes) French ship letter on board the "Joven Emilia" (this being apparently a Spanish ship), with framed "P.P." and dispatch c.d.s. in red, charged on arrival at 4 reales for the double weight, with neat strike of "E./NE" marking for "Empresa/Norte Europa" of the "Empresa de Correos Marítimos". Some wrinkles and usual ink erosions. This "Empresa" postmark has only been so far recorded between 1839 and 1840. Ex Kouri.
