Auction: SW1020 - Maritime Mail of Spanish Colonies in America
Lot: 68
CubaOutgoing Mail1824, Oct. 20. Entire letter from Havana to Calella (Spain), showing "Islas De Barlovento" straight-line handstamp (P.E. 7), which was applied on mail emanating from the Caribbean region, charged with "6 rs" in manuscript on receipt for an unpaid single rate. Some soiling and ink erosion at right, in no way detracting from this rarity. The rarest "Islas de Barlovento" postmark, with only two items recorded; (the other item was also sent to a locality on the Catalonian coast, consequently leading to suspect that this postmark was used in Barcelona).
