Entire letter from Sancti Spiritus to Montagnau (France), sent prepaid for the maritime fee and local postage on departure, including a double rate with 2 reales and 6 reales for the inland and maritime fees, with Italic "Sancti Spiritus" in two lines and unlisted "Franco" straight line in red on dispatch, oval "Habana/Franco" (P.E. 16) in transit, "Espagne/Par Bayonne" entry marking in France, where it was charged with handwritten "11" décimes due (including 3 from Irún, Spain, to St.-Jean-de-Luz, 2 to Bayonne, and 6 to Montagnau). An exceedingly scarce mail from an inland locality in Cuba sent to a non-Spanish destination in this period, further enhanced by the rarity of the Sancti Spiritus postmarks. Ex Kouri.
