1922 Closure of the European Post OfficesSino-Japanese WarThe Savoia Grenadiers in China1937 Dec.-1938 April. One cover and one postcard to Rome franked at corresponding 50c. and 30c. rates, one sent care of the ministry of defense and forwarded via the "R. N. Gherso" from Taranto, with the franking tied by "R. Nave/Montecuccoli" c.d.s.'s in violet with "Regie Poste/Italiane" datestamp in same colour alongside. The battle cruiser "Montecuccoli" was in Shanghai to protect the Italians during the Sino-Japanese War. A rare usage. Photo
