Collections and RangesZeppelin Mail"Polarfahrt 1931", the Arctic Expedition of the Graf Zeppelin. One-frame awarded collection in 12 exhibition pages, including a selection of 18 covers/cards with the red "Luftschiff Graf Zeppelin/Polarfahrt 1931" marking and featuring various aspects of this Zeppelin's postal-history episode, with a first section comprising two covers directed to Berlin with frankings of Switzerland (signatures A. Sammt, H. Von Shchiller and the famous General Umberto Nobile) & Liechtenstein; it follows with mail directed to Leningrad with frankings -including combinations with Germany- of Netherlands, Colombia, Luxembourg, Hungary & Saarland; the third section is devoted to mail involved with the Russian "Malyguin" icebraker, including frankings of Austria, Switzerland, Danzig, Germany (4), Netherlands, Saarland (with the signatures of General Umberto Nobile and the captains Sammt, Witteman & Müller), Soviet Union (3, two addressed to Nobile's wife, of which one sent by Umberto Nobile with text and signature, the other datelined by Nobile and with texts and signatures of Prof. Vladimir Wiese, D. T. Cherkov, N.V. Pinegin -this item was used to illustrate an article in the "Zeppelin Post Journal" by Fiorenzo Longhi, entitled "The Captain of the Malyguin and Other Scientists"-). Three items are accompanied by certificates. A desirable and scarce assembly representing a very interesting chapter of the Zeppelin flights. Photo
