H.A.P.A.G. 1872, June 25. Entire letter from Trinidad to Bordeaux, endorsed "pr. Bavaria" denoting carriage by this German ship, with "GB/1F60c" currency mark applied in London, where the cover was also backstamped with red "Ship-Letter" c.d.s., charged "36" in manuscript on front as per triple rate. An interesting forerunner usage before the introduction of stamps.
