St. Thomas-La Guaira-Puerto Cabello. 1866, Oct. 8, entire letter from Puerto Cabello to Bordeaux, bearing the agents double-ring handstamp inscribed "St.Thomas La Guaira & P°. Cabello Steam Packet" illustrated with steamship, denoting payment of the local fee, and replacing the Dos Reales franking during an emergency period as a result of a shortage of stamps. Anglo-French "GB/1F60c" accountancy currency mark, Calais entry and "10" postage due on receipt, backstamped at London, Paris and Bordeaux. As stated by Ringström-Tester in their handbook, these "Provisional Franks" are extremely rare on cover.
