Coro-La Vela Local Post. 1867, "Correo de Coro á la Vela y viceversa" black on orange, slightly glazed, paper (slightly oxidized, of no importance in this particular case -see complete description-), ' Hurt & Williams' type a, with good margins, on 19-20 May 1870, as docketed inside, cover to Curaçao (Dutch West Indies), David A. Senior correspondence. This stamp was issued by the company which covered the railway journey between Coro and La Vela, the latter being the closest port of embarkation, and denoted the payment for this forwarding service, with the franking not being cancelled by handstamps. Only six covers are known with this adhesive, this beign further enhanced as the only cover recorded franked by this stamp exhibiting its original orange colour -the other five covers known with this stamp exhibit only a greyish-blue shade which was altered as a result of the application of an acid compound used to cancel the stamp and prevent reuse-. Cert. Holcombe. Ex Gebauer and Borromeo D'Adda.
