Société Anonyme par Actions "Aeroplane" Plovdiv. Aktie 50 Levas. Plovdiv, 1. Juin 1912. #1949. Large and decorative Bulgarian certificate. The images show an airplane Blériot Model VIII with Louis Blériot standing at the front and to the right Louis Blériot sitting in his airplane and in the middle a hangar in Plovdiv. Bulgaria used improved Blériot XI during WWI. 200 airplanes of this type were built. Louis Charles Joseph Blériot (1872-1936) was a French aviator, inventor and engineer. He developed the first practical headlamp for cars and established a profitable business manufacturing them (See Lot 101). This business was profitable, enabling Blériot the financial means to build a successful aircraft. Blériot developed the first working, powered, piloted monoplane. In 1909 he became famous around the world for making the first flight across the English Channel in a heavier than air aircraft. The item had missing pieces but has been professionally repaired. With the usual cancelling holes. VF.
