1859, Oct. 23. An early cover (bottom back flap removed) from Falmouth to Bilbao (Spain), endorsed "Paid via France", franked at single rate with 2d. blue, strip of three, pair and single, each tied by "290" barred ovals with matching Falmouth double-arc datestamp adjacent. Dispatched via the Spanish vice-consulate as confirmed by "Vice Consulado de España/Mandada por tus amigos" (sent by your friends), and "G.C. & R.W. Fox & Co./Falmouth" forwarding agent marking on reverse, together with London transit and arrival. Minor soiling not detracting. A scarce franking and rare usage. S.G. 45.
